Tin pots with a lid in the late Middle Ages constituted a part of tableware of richer Burgess, and they are considered to be products made in workshops in the cities of Hanza – the most important commercial organization of Medieval Europe, uniting northern cities, mainly German – which was joined by Wrocław in the 14th century. In case of the item discovered at 10 Uniwersytecka Street in a latrine from the 15th or 16th century, the letter “W” engraved on the top suggests that it is a product from Wrocław, maybe from a workshop of a pewterer Hans Grofe, working in the late fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Inside the artefact there is a plaque depicting the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
