The Church of Saint Elizabeth, similarly to many other churches in Silesian cities, featured numerous chapels. The image shows two buildings that do not exist anymore – in the foreground, the polygonal chapel of Saint Maternus and another one added onto the tower, the chapel of the Krapp Family. The privilege of having an own chapel in the church was granted only to the greatest families whose members were active in the city council. It was a place where burials took place and where people would commemorate reminiscent about their ancestors, highlighting the prestige of the family.
