The Wrocław workshop of the sculptor, Jakob Beinhart, produced a range of painted and sculptured works, which found their way to Silesian churches in the late 15th century and early 16th century. The artist also made the reredos for the painters’ chapel at the Church of Saint Mary Magdalene in Wrocław, portraying Saint Luke painting Mary. As a result, a great monochrome piece was created that was unique in the region as it was free from any painted ornaments, showcasing the artist’s skills worthy of Tilman Riemenschneider himself.
