The Scenic Map of Wrocław (Topographia oder Prodromus Delineati Silesiae Ducatus) is a unique manuscript from the mid-18th century. Coloured-in with the use of a quill pen, this map depicts the city from a bird’s eye perspective from the south-eastern side. The fold-out map was featured in the first volume of the epoch-making work by Friedrich Bernhard Werner, which also contained descriptions, statistical data and over two hundred illustrations – maps of duchies, city maps and drawings of architectural venues from the entire Silesian region. The scenic map is the greatest, most accurate, and most detailed city panorama, depicting its full layout with numerous architectural features (towers, gates, fortifications). It is a masterpiece of precision, showcasing the architectural and urban structure of the modern-day Wrocław.
